Bethany Lee
Hi! My name is Bethany Lee, and I am a stone carver and sculptor living in Mount Pleasant. I work primarily in limestone and soap stone and do lettering relief, carving and sculptures in the round. on Tuesday evenings, I teach a class for beginning stone, carving at my studio in the gateway arts District. When I’m not carving, I love to wander around Rock Creek Park, And I can often be seen picking up my niece and nephew from Bancroft Elementary School in the wagon.
Josie Vosoba
Josie (Beth) Vosoba is an oil painter who loves to paint "en plein air". She usually paints small pieces, since she has to carry all the equipment in a backpack, and the light changes quickly. I like to find a place that inspires me and then quickly capture that feeling on canvas. A frequent hiker in Rock Creek Park in D.C., you may see her set up with her easel there. Josie also organizes painting workshops in Provence France, Spain and New Mexico.
Luke Walter
I'm a photographer and a printmaker. My artwork begins with original photography, and I then edit and print in a variety of mediums, including silkscreen and cyanotype. As another of my creative outlets is writing, I've recently begun incorporating text into my visual art.
Frankie Alika
The title of this painting is Retrospective. It is simply talking about looking back at past events and preparing for the future.
Erin Fox:
Sunny Type Co is a DC-based, woman-owned stationary shop filled with colorful and bold greeting cards, notepads, and more designed for everyday celebrations. Started during the pandemic, I wanted to help others connect with friends and family the way I love to—with handmade greeting cards. The past few years have taught us that even the smallest gesture can make someone's day and there are always reasons to celebrate yourself and those you love, whether it's big or small.
Fresh Pear Jewelry
I'm Alicia, and I'm a sucker for a pun. My jewelry centers bold colors and playful prints. How we present ourselves to the world is a deeply political act. My pieces embody the defiant act of joyful self-expression. I make my jewelry using polymer clay, a medium that is very accessible but quite difficult to master. The surface patterns on my earrings are created by hand -- I mix, cut, tear, and place each color onto the surface of the clay before cutting it into earring components. This makes each pair unique and a serious labor of love. When you shop from Fresh Pear, you are supporting a woman-owned, mixed race Asian-owned, very (very, very) small business.
