COACH LETTS

COACH LETTS: Coach Letts is a 1997 graduate of Middle Township High School. While at MTHS, Coach Letts competed on the Cross Country, Winter Track, and Spring Track teams. In Cross Country, Letts was a three time Big 5 individual champion, three time Cape May County champion, 1996 South Jersey Group 3 individual champion, 2 time state qualifier, 2 time Meet of Champions Qualifier, 1995 Footlocker Cross Country Northeast US champion(Junior Class), three time CAL all-star, two time All South Jersey selection, and 1996 Press of AC Cross Country Runner-of-the-Year. Letts still holds the Middle Township school XC record with a time of 15:31. In Track, Letts finished 3rd in the 3200 meters at the 1997 NJSIAA Meet of Champions with an MTHS school record time of 9:19. Letts also competed in the 1997 ADIDAS Outdoor Track & Field National Championship on the campus of NC State University. Letts also competed at the collegiate level for NAIA nationally ranked Cedarville University (OH). He was the number 2 runner on the XC team his freshman year, earned NCCAA All-American honors as a freshman, and finished 36th at the NAIA national championship meet in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Coach Letts returned home to teach at MTHS in September of 2002. In 2004 he was named Head Coach of the Cross Country team. Letts also served as Head Coach of the Track program from 2004-2014. As head of the Cross Country team, Middle Township has won 7 Big 5 titles (2009-2015), 1 Cape May County title (2014), 1 Cape Atlantic League title (2014), and 2 NJSIAA state championship meet appearances. In 2014, Middle Twp. Cross Country was named Press of Atlantic City's Team-of-the-year, and Coach Letts was named Coach-of-the-year. Coach Letts was also nominated for SJ Coach-of-the-year by the South Jersey Track Coaches Association. As head of the Track & Field program, Letts coached numerous athletes to county, sectional, and state titles in events such as Long Jump, Triple Jump, Discus, 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, 1600 meters, and 3200 meters.

Coach Letts is entering his 18th year as an English teacher at MTHS, and his 16th season as head coach of the Boys Cross Country team. He resides in Middle Township with his wife (Alicia) and three terrific children (Emily, Abbey, and Luke).
