About ME

A little about me, I was born and raised in McMinnville, Oregon. I completed my Bachelor's degree at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington where I also ran track and cross country. I then graduated from Oregon State University in Bend, Oregon with my Masters in Counseling.

My unwavering passion lies in empowering students to define and achieve success in their academic pursuits, personal lives, and future careers. Through my comprehensive school counseling program, I aspire to foster resilience, kindness, and problem-solving skills in students, ensuring they are well-equipped to face challenges throughout their lives.

In my spare time, I enjoy hiking, skiing, trail running, and fly fishing. I love adventure and try to incorporate my passion for the outdoors in my work with students.

Feel free to reach out to me anytime, as I am here to support and guide your students on their unique journeys of growth and development.

My counseling theories

Solution-focused therapy

Solution focused brief therapy (SFBT) is a future-oriented, goal-directed approach to solving human problems of living.
The focus is on the client’s health rather than the problem, on strengths rather than weaknesses or deficits, and on skills, resources and coping abilities that would help in reaching future goals.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a form of psychotherapy that focuses on modifying dysfunctional emotions, behaviors, and thoughts by uprooting negative or irrational beliefs.

Classroom Lessons

Part of my counseling program is to teach students Social Emotional curriculum. For PreK-2nd, I use the Little Spot curriculum, for 2nd-8th grade at the head of the bay, I use the Character Strong curriculum, and at Homer Middle School, I use the Project Wayfinder curriculum. All of these curriculums are evidence-based. If you have any questions about these lessons, please reach out!

Some of the lesson topics we may cover are:

Group Counseling

I also get to the opportunity to meet with your students for skills and process groups. This year's group topics might include:

Individual Counseling

The final way that I connect with students is through individual check-ins. Students may self-refer for individual counseling by filling out this slip (or one similar), or their teacher or parent/caregiver may refer them.
