Transitional Kindergarten
Welcome to Transitional Kindergarten (TK)!
In TK our motto is “life is our curriculum” and learning is largely play based. We will focus heavily on our social emotional development: identify our emotions, build empathy, learn to use our words, express our feelings and needs, and problem solve with others. We will learn to count, add and subtract, measure, learn our letters and sounds, and read basic sight words- through hands-on exploration and the use of our senses, as well as whole group circle time and small group rotations. We appreciate the support of parents and grandparents who volunteer throughout the day. We strive to provide a warm, loving, consistent environment so children feel comfortable being themselves, learning new skills and developing relationships with others.

About Ms. Gilbride:
Hello! My name is Tiffany Gilbride. I was born and raised in Humboldt County. I went to Humboldt State University (now Cal Poly Humboldt) and taught at Little Learners Preschool for 2 years. I then taught at Whitethorn Elementary in the 5th/6th/7th grade class and then the 1st/2nd grade class. I've been teaching at Freshwater School since 2012. At Freshwater School I taught 1st grade for 10 years and have been teaching Transitional Kindergarten (TK) since then!
