My name is Ryan Lewellen, and I coach at Pioneer High School, a small school in Royal Center, IN. I brought my youth team up to Crown Point in 2013 to play in your tournament. We had a blast. We were way outclassed as we are just a small school from the cornfields. We played the Elgin Royals in our first game and lost in the last seconds of the game. Then got beat badly by a team with Ravens as their mascot. The Royals offered us another game, and we ended up beating them in a close game. The players that I brought to that tournament are now seniors. They have won two state titles, have never lost a conference game, and they have only lost 6 games since 3rd grade. Two of those coming at your tournament. Just last week, our 1A team (school enrollment of 288) beat 6A Chesterton (enrollment of over 2000). When asked what their best memories in football, are almost everyone pointed back to 2013 when we got our butts kicked up in Crown Point. Your tournament trumped two state titles! And taught them to never fear losing but to play with everything they have. The boys have asked if you have any of the rosters from that year's tournament. They would like to know which boys they played against are going on to play at the next level. I was wondering if you could help me find information on the Elgin Royals and the Ravens from that year. Thank you for what you do.
