Welcome to the official website of the Missouri Sheriffs' Association Basic Peace Officer Academy. The Basic Peace Officer Academy (BPOA) is a licensed provider through the Missouri Department of Public Safety who is charged with enhancing the knowledge, skills and abilities of Cadets for the purpose of establishing workplace employability skills in order to develop the next generation of competent and committed Peace Officers. Cadets develop as Leaders throughout their academy through progressive and sequential processes. These processes incorporate training, education, and experience across three learning domains; Institutional, Operational, and Self-Development. BPOA is charged with providing a contemporary program of instruction which enables Law Enforcement Organizations to recruit and retain adaptive, agile and critical thinkers who provide an accountable and efficient public service. BPOA grounds cadets in habits of discipline that will forge the trust of the public and continue a lifelong partnership in pursuit of a better quality of life.
