GET INVOLVED
ATTEND monthly PTA Meetings. These are usually held the first Monday of the month, via zoom, at 6:30 p.m. It’s the best way to stay on top of what’s happening at MS 442, meet other families and teachers, and hear from the administration directly. Full list of meeting dates below.
JOIN the Konstella website (sign-up info sent schoolwide in early Fall) for PTA announcements, calendar of events, volunteer opportunities, and communication with other parents in class chatrooms. If you are an incoming or current MS442 Parent or Caregiver, please email us at ms442pta1@gmail.com to request our Social Media Links, including WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram - all of which are provided at June orientation and The Fall PTA Welcome Breakfast.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

MANDATORY OFFICERS:
PRESIDENT(S) Presides over all PTA general and executive board meetings with agendas;Delegates responsibilities to other PTA members; Acts as a member of committees put together by PTA.; Acts as a member of the School Leadership Team (SLT); Reviews and responds to all correspondence to the PTA mailbox; Acts as the MS442 Representative on the D15 Presidents' Council. Acts as the PTA representative on the School Leadership Team (SLT).
TREASURER(S) Responsible for all financial affairs and funds of the PTA; Maintains records of all income and expenses;Keeps track of all documents and tasks related to 501(c); Prepares written financial report for all PTA general and executive board meetings; Prepares Annual Financial Report; Ensures the PTA’s annual tax return is filed as per IRS requirements
RECORDING SECRETARY(S) Assists with Meeting Agenda formatting and dsitribution; Keeps official minutes of PTA meetings; Prepares sign-in sheets and materials; Keeps the PTA’s non-financial records; Assists the Konstella+Facebook Communications Secretaries as requested.
NON-MANDATORY OFFICERS:
VICE-PRESIDENT Sets up and monitors Konstella volunteer pages; Sets up and monitors Konstella donation/pledge pages; Organizes volunteers on behalf of Events Chairs and as needed by school staff; Knows how to access and organize the PTA Locker(s) and setup the PTA Banner; Knows PTA methods for purchasing food items for events; Understands and executes post-event volunteer thank-you procedures
DEPUTY TREASURER Understands how to receive Konstella payments (via Stripe); Knows online Stripe account and works with Treasurer regarding transfers from Stripe account to PTA Bank Account; Knows online Point-of-Sale account (Collect) and how to set up items for sale at events; Understands physical Stripe Point-of-Sale system and is responsible for set up, deployment (using a mobile phone/tablet interface) and post-event storage.
DEPUTY RECORDING SECRETARY Shares the various duties of the Recording Secretary but is not a Co-Secretary and does not have to run as a co-slate in an election.
FUNDRAISING CHAIR(S) Assembles fundraising team (The Hive) as necessary from interested members including General Membership and/or Executive Board members; Leads in formulating annual goals and creating fundraising events;Devises messaging and strategies for meeting goals set forth; Participates in setup and execution of non-event (online) Fundraising efforts as necessary; Understands how corporate matching works and can designate as necessary a Hive member to lead Corporate matching efforts
EVENTS CHAIR(S) Plans and organizes PTA-approved events in alignment with the Association’s goals. Develops event concepts, décor, and overall design elements appropriate to the event theme and audience. Collaborates with the Treasurer to develop and manage event budgets. Coordinates vendors and ensures required contracts, permits, and insurance documents are secured. Recruits and organizes volunteers as needed.. Works with school administration to ensure compliance with school and district policies. Assists with event promotion through PTA communication channels. Maintains oversight, organization, and upkeep of PTA event supplies and storage areas, including inventory management. Provides a brief summary report to the Executive Board following major events.
COMMUNICATIONS & SOCIAL MEDIA CHAIR(S) Knows how to use PTA Konstella account to setup messaging on behalf of other officers; Knows how to create arallel and non-parallel emails for school to send out; Can create informational and promotional messages for PTA events and programs; Works with Events and Fundraising and others to coordinate necessary communications; Works with flyer designer as needed to ensure accurate flyer info; Responsible for Social media posting - pre-event, during event and post event.
ELECTIONS CHAIR Understands how PTA Elections work, including nominating committee responsibilities and running elections; Can help identify nominating committee members; Can inform nominating committee regarding election procedures including but not limited to sending out election-related messaging and holding actual elections; Can provide and instruct nominating committee on filling out post-election certification forms; Can NOT actively participate in any duties of the nominating committee
NEW PARENT LIAISON Organizes new parent Konstella, Social Media and WhatsApp Sign-up QR info for PTA Welcome Breakfast and June Orientation (as necessary); Responsible for new parent interest sign up sheet at Welcome Breakfast; Knows answers to the 6th Grade (Incoming Parent and Caregiver) FAQ; Can bring new parent concerns to the PTA; Will support the 6th Grade WhatsApp chat as necessary
MEMBERS-AT-LARGE:
MEMBERS-AT-LARGE (4-6) Attends all meetings regularly to provide inputs; Liaison between the parents and the executive committee; 6th Representative/Chair (identified at Orientation) will also be responsible for creating summer gatherings and will be elected as an official Member-at-Large in the Fall Expedited Election.
