For this portfolio, you have 3 options to complete and submit for full points.
Option 1: Complete the "Art of Money" and design a money note & coin (Unit 4 Lesson 1)
Option 2: Complete a Design of a Postmodern Façade (Unit 4 Lesson 4)
Option 3: Complete a drawing of a New Memorial (Unit 4 Lesson 2 & 3)
The first two options is the Unit 4 Lesson 1 artwork and worksheet or your Unit 4 Lesson 4 artwork and worksheet.
Option 1: Unit 4 Lesson 1
What if your town or city decided to produce its own form of currency? Use the directions and the guidelines in the following presentation to create two pieces of money that represent your city (Common Currency).You will need to draw one coin and one paper note (bill). The worksheet will be Extra Credit.
Option 2: Unit 4 Lesson 4
In this creative exercise, you will take on the role of a Postmodern architect. It is your job to design a building façade, or exterior of a building, that reflects Postmodernism in its appearance. Use the instructions in the following presentation to Design a Postmodern Façade. The worksheet will be Extra Credit

Step 1: Search your local community for memorials. Look for war monuments, remembrances of significant figures or events, and even gravesites.
Step 2: Analyze two to four memorials in your art sketchbook by:
Sketch a picture of the memorial and write about its subject(s) and purpose.
Compare the design of this memorial to others you have studied in the unit. How has the creator used art to send a message?
Step 3: Think about it. What memorials are missing in your area? In other words, are there events or people that have not yet been commemorated? Create a list of missing memorials in your art sketchbook.
Step 4: Pick an idea and create a sketch that honors one of these unsung events or heroes.
Step 5: Add color and finalize your memorial design.
Answer the following questions about your memorial using the process worksheets above. (Extra Credit)
Who or what will this memorial be commemorating?
What message is your memorial sending? Why?
What symbols did you use to represent your message? Why?
Why did you decide to create this memorial?
Where will this memorial be placed? Why?
Be sure to complete the reflection questions on the worksheet as well!
This portfolio will be graded using the Art Portfolio Grading rubric.
Complete the worksheet following the directions in the presentation to go with your artwork for 2 points extra credit. The worksheet must be filled out correctly and fully complete.
When you have completed one of the above options for this portfolio, please submit your completed drawing (and worksheet for extra credit) to the dropbox in the lesson for grading.
