School begins on August 22, 2023 at 7:55am.
Students may gather on the playground for walk and talk between 7:45am and 7:55am. Please do NOT send your child to the playground before 7:45 and make sure there is an adult present. We line up and say the Pledge of Allegiance as a whole school before entering the building.
Our day concludes at 3:00pm. Students will be dismissed to the areas for their normal dismissal routine. Bus students line up in the hallway outside the library. Aftercare students will walk to the cafeteria. Students being picked up will go to the gym to wait for their name to be called. Students who have a sibling in kindergarten or 4K will dismiss from the kindergarten entrance on Ellis Street.

Prayers for First Grade to learn
Pacelli Catholic Elementary Schools have prayers that all first graders need to memorize and recite individually by the end of second quarter. Here are the prayers for you to practice with your child.
First Quarter Prayers:
Sign of the Cross: must know words and actions
In the name of the Father, (touch right hand to forehead)
And of the Son, (touch right hand to sternum)
And of the Holy (touch right hand to left shoulder)
Spirit (touch right hand to right shoulder)
Amen.
Meal Prayer
Bless us oh Lord, in these thy gifts which we are about to receive,
From thy bounty, through Christ our Lord. Amen
Hail Mary
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our
death, Amen
Second Quarter Prayers
The Lord’s Prayer (Our Father)
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil. Amen.
Glory Be
Glory Be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning, Is now and ever shall be, World without end. Amen.
Angel of God (Guardian Angel Prayer)
Angel of God, my guardian dear
To who God’s love commits me here
Ever this day, be at my side
To light and guard,
To rule and guide.
Amen.
Phy. Ed. Physical Education will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays at St. Steve’s with Mrs. Bernas.
Mrs. Bernas has requested that all children have an extra pair of tennis shoes that can be kept here at school in case students forget their tennis shoes. If a child doesn’t have tennis shoes, she will not allow them to participate in certain activities for their safety. Please send in the extra shoes by the end of September! Thank you!
End of the Day routine: Your child is establishing a routine this week for going home after school. If that routine is going to change, please email Holly, Carol Lawlis, and me. If you know a few days ahead of time, it is fine to email me sooner. This will help me to make sure your child gets to the right place each day. If you have not notified me via a note or phone call to the office, your child must follow the usual routine. Also, please be aware that the office gets extremely busy after 2pm so please call before that time to ensure that I know where your child is supposed to go. Thank you!
Mass Days: Wednesdays at 8:15am; please let me know if you will be attending so your child can sit with you. You will need to sit in the pews behind the 4th graders or on the outside of the church as our space in our two pews is limited.
Dress Code: Please refer the Parent Handbook for the Dress Code which can be found on the St. Stephen’s website. This is important as it has been updated and there are some changes!
Water Bottles: I highly recommend that your child bring his/her own water bottle to school to stay hydrated. I have special cup holders on each child's chair so that they have easy access to water throughout the day. The cup holders are plastic and only hold so much so please make sure that your child's water bottle is no larger than 20 oz. and is made of a material that is not too heavy. Large metal bottles will not work in the cup holders. Also, I ask that the top be one that seals securely so we avoid spills. If you have questions, let me know.
Book Orders:
Please know that when you place an order online through my account, it does NOT get placed until I close the order which I do usually on the due date. If you do not submit your online order in the time frame I have given, you will not receive your order until the next month when I place the next order. I wanted to let you know this because it is different than when you place an order through Amazon or Target or another online site. That is also why I give everyone a week to place their orders. (This is the way it works with any teacher’s online code.) Thanks!
*Birthday Treats: Please remember that the treats must be store-bought, individually wrapped snacks due to allergies within the school. Cupcakes from a bakery are fine but no cakes please and no homemade treats. Ingredient labels are needed so that I can check allergy information. If you are concerned about any allergies, please contact me ahead of time.
Thank you for your help with this!
Handwriting Grading: Here is how I will be grading your child's Handwriting. For the first part of the year, grades will come from the handwriting book. Once the book is completed, your child's handwriting will be graded on their daily work in all subjects.
You will see the letters HW:
It will then be followed by one of the following…
++ means outstanding
+ means needs to work on
1 aspect
+check means needs to
work on 2 aspects
1 check means needs to
work on 3 aspect
2 checks means needs to
work on all aspects
