Mrs. Pharis

Civics & Economics

Welcome to 8th grade Civics & Economics

We did it!!!!

We made it through a crazy school year. It was definitely a memorable year for everyone and a strange way to end your time at GVMS. All 5 of my class periods were filled with amazing students. I miss you all. Have a wonderful summer and good luck in high school.

No lesson/enrichment will be posted this week and no office hours/Zoom.

I hope to catch a glimpse of your faces as you come through the kiss n ride on Thursday to collect your belongings.

Office Hours: Wednesdays from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Mrs. Pharis will answer email and chat with students online through TEAMS to give updates, answer questions, and clarify instructions during this time.

See below for transcripts from the previous Zoom meetings.

Missed a Zoom check in? Check out the links to the right and find out what you missed.

Virtual Lessons/Activities: Posted every Friday by 10:00 a.m.

Mrs. Pharis will post a lesson and learning activity created by the Civics and Economics teachers. These lessons and activities will be an extension of the objectives you have learned about all year. Lessons are posted on the Weekly Lesson/Activity page.

Lessons from the previous weeks can be found on the Enrichment Activities page.

Lessons will be created by one of the four Civics & Economics teachers at GVMS.

Keeping up with the weekly lessons posted may have a positive effect on your end of year grade.

So keep up the work!

Feedback for Virtual Lessons/Activities

If you would like feedback on your work it must be submitted no later than the following Thursday at 11:59 p.m. This gives you 7 days to complete the assignment for feedback.

Feedback for the lesson/activity posted each Friday will be given the following Friday.

Students receive feedback on the Word Document shared to them by Mrs. Pharis after their initial work submission. All assignment feedback will be given on the same document.

May 14th- Reminder

Don't forget to log in to your Office 365 account when you are doing the weekly lesson/activity. When you fill in the Form it will have your first name at the top with a submission reminder if you are logged in correctly. Example: Hi Jenni, when you submit this form, the owner will be able to see your name and email address.

I have had a few students work hard to complete the activities but then submitted the Form with out signing in. There is no way to get credit for the work if I do not know who did the work.

Message from Mrs. Pharis

Thursday, March 19th

Per PWCS guidelines Mrs. Pharis will not be posting any new work during the week of March 16-27.

I posted note taking videos for all Unit 12 notes for those students who were absent any of the days we took notes. You can always check the Daily Agenda page to see what we did in class on the days you were absent.

Next week I will be posting an optional assignment (or two) for those students who would like to boost their grade before quarter 3 ends.

The unit 11 Test retake request deadline is not extended. Students that turned in the request on time and received retake packets will retake the test upon return from the break.
