I love school!  But I bet you already knew that.  Let me tell you a little about myself that you may not know.  This is my 17th year teaching and my fifth year at EM Holt.  Prior to coming to Holt I taught 3rd, 4th and 5th grades at Garrett Elementary and 3rd grade at Grove Park.  I am originally from Alamance County, growing up in Graham.  My husband Adam and I currently live in Graham with our two children, Carter, 13 and Claire, 10.  Claire goes to EM Holt and is in 5th  grade. Carter is an eighth grader at Southern Middle School.     We enjoy lots of things as a family that your family may also enjoy.   Claire enjoys volleyball and art.  She is absolutely obsessed with Harry Potter.  Carter is on the football and wrestling teams and is also very involved in his scout troop.  They both enjoy attending our youth activities at church.  We all enjoy travelling to both the beach and mountains.    We also enjoy family game night, cooking together, boating and camping.  

I decided in high school that I wanted to be a teacher.  I attended UNC Chapel Hill where I completed my degree in Elementary Education and am certified to teach grades K through 6.  My grandmothers were  both teachers, one taught 2nd grade at Haw River Elementary for many years and the other was a Librarian in Charlotte.  They both taught me to love learning.  A book or enriching experience was never far from my grasp growing up.  Their core values have shaped the teacher that I am today.  I believe that children should be held to high expectations in both behavior and academics.  By building relationships, acknowledging differences  and establishing routines, we set children up for success both in the classroom and in life.
