Grovetown Middle
EXPLORING THE GEOGRAPHY, HISTORY, GOVERNMENT, AND ECONOMICS OF GEORGIA!
Welcome to my class! I am so excited to be your student's teacher this year! I can't wait to get know my students and would like to take this space to share a little bit about myself. I have been teaching for 16 years and have a Master's Degree in Teaching and a Bachelor's in Psychology with an emphasis on child development. My proudest moment in my teaching career was when three very special students nominated me for a Golden Apple. As a result, I have had the privilege of being honored with a News Channel 12 Golden Apple "Teaching in Excellence" award. This will be my second year with Grovetown Middle and I am looking forward to many more!
Class Course Overview
Eighth grade social studies is the study of Georgia history. The goal of this course is to acquaint middle school students with the geography, history, and factors in government and economics that influenced the development of the state of Georgia. U.S historical events are included, as appropriate, to ensure students understand Georgia's role in the history of the United States. I believe in hands on approach to the learning of these topics and as such, students should come prepared to engage in several projects throughout the year.
