Demonstrate the ability to listen and view critically as well as participate effectively in academic discourse - speaking purposefully and responding thoughtfully while demonstrating respect for diverse perspectives and making strategic decisions about content, language use and discourse style. *As specified in course specific criteria for each semester.


    • I can engage in respectful and meaningful academic discourse to collaborate, build on the ideas of others and persuasively express my own.
    • I can adapt speech to a variety of contexts and communicative tasks, demonstrating an understanding of and respect for diversity in language use, patterns and dialects across cultures, ethnic groups, geographic regions and social roles.
    • I can authentically and independently view and listen to multimedia recordings to analyze, critique and discuss texts from literature.
    • I can authentically and independently create and make strategic use of digital and visual media to effectively communicate.
