Class Overview

In this unit students will learn the basics of how to use hardware and software in the school community. This unit will empower them to utilize technology tools like i-ready in this class and other classes. Additionally students will begin learning about Cyber-Safety through the Common Sense Media curriculum. This unit will help introduce students to foundational tech skills that they will use throughout their time in the school community and introduce them to the concept of being a Digital Citizen.

Learning Skills:

- Basics of computers do's and don't of computers lab

- Start/shut down of computers

- Internet safety computer parts/operations

- Computer history

-resizing of window

- Understand what it means to be an appropriate digital citizen

- Common Sense Media: Internet Safety

- Creating, saving, previewing, printing

- Editing the appearance of text/images(font, size, style, text color)

- Utilizing the resources (comments, spell check, thesaurus) within Microsoft Word

- Learn how formatting documents in an attractive way
