Island City Academy is Cumberland's 7-12 Charter School. This school was started in 2006 as a middle school program and added the high school program in 2014. The ICA is a project-based learning environment that is student-directed.

Students utilize 1 to 3 afternoon class periods researching, collecting data, contacting experts, and incorporating social studies, science and other electives into a well developed project.
