Mrs. Thompson's 2nd Grade
First Communion is the highlight of our year in 2nd Grade!
Welcome to 2nd Grade! It's a busy, action-packed year! Highlights include chapter books, cursive, triple digit addition and subtraction with regrouping, STEM and Famous Americans. Most importantly, in 2nd Grade, we celebrate First Reconciliation and First Communion.
Originally from Chicago's South Side, I came to U of I as a freshman and have been here ever since. Both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees are from U of I in Education.
My husband, John, and I have 3 children and 2 granddaughters. In addition, we have a large extended family. My passions include family and friends, travel, and reading.
In my long Holy Cross career, I have taught Kindergarten, First and Second Grade. One of the joys of being here my whole career, is now having the children of former students.
Professionally, I enjoy updating my knowledge and skills; always looking for ways to refine and improve my teaching and my class. Literacy has been a particular area of focus. I am a past President and current Treasurer of the Illini Reading council. Modeling to students what a lifelong learner does, is a responsibility I take seriously.
