Welcome to Mr. Pickel's Online Classroom

While we are unable to meet to hold classes at GSS, I have moved my courses over to Google Classroom. Some of you have been using Google Classroom with me all year long, and for some of you it will be a new experience. When are our classes?

For the forseable future, we will not be holding scheduled classes. Rather, you will be provided with 1-2 weeks worth of material (at about 1-2 hours a week) that you can work through at your own pace. This work will be largely independant, but I always only a quick email or message via Google Classroom away.

My goal is to maintain the follow posting/due date schedule for my classes:

Block B/H - Social Studies 10:

  • Wednesday* - activities are posted to Google Classroom. The following Monday** work is due for submission.

Block D/E - Senior Guitar/Guitar 9:

  • Thursday* - activities are posted. The following Tuesday** work is due for submission.

Block A/G - Social Studies and English 8:

  • Activities will be posted once a week on Fridays*, in two week intervals, alternating between English and Social Studies. Work will be due two weeks** from the day it is assigned.

*This schedule is subject to change due to holidays and/or other interruptions.

**Always check Google Classroom for up-to-date timelines and information.

How to Join Google Classroom for the First Time

TO START - Go to the GSS Library webpage (click link here)

Click the “OneDrive / Office365” icon (bottom left hand corner)

Sign in using your school district email and password:

studentnumber@mrpm.sd42.ca

Note: you must sign in with your school account. You will not be able to access these resources with any other email address. This is the same email and password you use to log onto the computers.

If you do not know your school district email or your student number please let me know ASAP.

You will be taken to your Office365 home page. If you do not see the “Google Apps” icon, select “All Apps” and scroll down to find it.

Click the “Google Apps” Icon.

You will be taken to your Google Classroom homepage, where you will see all of your Google Classroom pages. If you don’t see our class, then it’s time to join!

Click the + symbol in the top right hand corner, and select “Join class”

You will have to enter the unique class code in the pop up window.

In order to obtain your student's course code, please email me at tyler_pickel@mrpm.sd42.ca with your student's name and the course(s) they are enrolled in with me.

Enter your class code and click “Join”

You are now in!!! Finally!!!

Students: Once you have joined classroom, save the website to your bookmarks/favourites and/or pin the tab to your browsing window. This way you will always have quick and easy access. If you will be primarily accessing it with your phone or personal device I encourage you to download the Google Classroom app.
