About Me

I was born and raised in the Chippewa Valley and graduated from high school at Stevens Point Area Senior High. Following graduation, I enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee specializing in land surveying and construction engineering. I completed boot camp at Great Lakes Naval Training Center near Chicago, IL and then attended engineering and surveying school at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. My first station was at Sigonella Naval Air Station near Catania, Sicily. I was fortunate enough to be able to use my skills as an Eagle Scout in a leadership role for the local Boy Scouts of America troop on base.

I progressed through the ranks rather quickly and was transferred to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 3 out of Port Hueneme, CA. I completed a construction-oriented deployment in Guam and volunteered for a small, 20 man Seabee Engineering Reconnaissance Team (SERT) specializing in tactical construction reconnaissance and ground combat. I was deployed to Iraq shortly after marrying my wonderful wife Natasha in July 2005. I served there as a vehicle commander & gunner before being honorably discharged and returning to Eau Claire to pursue my education while my wife completed her Master's Degree in school counseling.

I hold a Bachelors Degree in Teaching Physical Science from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire and Masters in Biology Education from Western Governors University. I am the high school science teacher at Northwood School in Minong, WI and hold the Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Broadfield Science, and Physical Science WI DPI licenses.

When I'm not at school, I am most likely spending time with my family, hunting, or working in my garden. In the winter we enjoy snowmobiling! I'm a nerd at heart who loves science fiction, all things technology, and video games. My wife, who is the Guidance Counselor at Northwood, and have 2 children, Ava and Clay. Our family also includes a husky/golden retriever mix named Remington and a cat, Ace.
