Hi everyone! My name is Mr. Jay and I am the full-time General/Vocal Music Specialist at Hart Magnet Elementary School in Stamford, CT. This school year will be my 27th year of teaching, and I have been at Hart School for all of them! I enjoy working with all of the grade levels from Kindergarten - Fifth Grade. I am the director of the Hart Magnet School Fourth and Fifth Grade choruses. Another program I run at Hart Magnet School in the HartBeat Radio Podcast which is played in school throughout the year.

Since I was in high school, I knew I wanted to be a music teacher. I always loved and participated in music and enjoyed working with children, so it was the perfect job for me! I went to Western Connecticut State University in Danbury, CT for my Bachelor's Degree in Music Education. I have also earned my Master's Degree in education from Southern Connecticut State University, and my 6th Year Degree (second master's degree) from the University of Bridgeport.

I have been married for 19 years and have 4 wonderful boys (aged 6-11). I also have a dog named Charlie and 5 chickens.

My favorite place to go on vacation is Cape Cod, Massachusetts. It is a beautiful and relaxing place. My family tries to get there at least once during the summer.

In my free time I love to build things and make improvements in my house. This past summer my kids and I made a new garden in our backyard where we're growing vegetables.
