Out of Catchment Information
Semiahmoo is the default high school for all students who graduate from WRE (regardless of where you live), and so have a spot reserved for them there. If you want your child to go to a different high school (EMS, Elgin, etc.), you will need to follow these steps:
You have to fill in an Out of Catchment form (you can get it at any of the high schools).
This form must be signed by both the Principal at Semiahmoo AND of the school you want your child to go to.
Go to your catchment school (Semiahmoo) to request a signature from the Principal.
Once you have a signature from the catchment school Principal, then go to the school you hope to attend, and hand in the form. The form will be kept at this school and you will be placed on a waitlist. The school will contact you once they get to your name.
This process must be followed for ANY White Rock Elementary students who are hoping to not attend Semiahmoo. Families have different reasons for wanting to NOT attend Semiahmoo- such as wanting the Fine Arts programs at EMS or having siblings at EMS or Elgin.
Students are then placed on a waitlist and each decision will be made on a case-by-case basis by the administration teams at those schools.
Please inform us at White Rock Elementary if you have submitted an Out of Catchment form. You can let our office staff know so we can keep a record. This way as we prepare files, school visits, and transitions we know where students are hoping to attend if it’s different than Semiahmoo.
