My name is Michael Maring and I am a Secondary Social Studies Teacher. I started my path in education holding Professional Development for educators while working at the Ellis Island National Immigration Museum. It was during this time I realized I wished to be a classroom teacher. I was afforded the opportunity to work with the Union City Board of Education. I then made the move to North Bergen High School as a certified Secondary Social Studies Teacher and spent the last year with the Freehold Regional School District with Manalapan High School. Since becoming a Social Studies Teacher I have taught World History & Cultures, US I, AP Civics, Civics, and Economics. I have also created curriculums and the following courses: New Jersey History, Documentary Filmmaking, Philosophy along with Museum Science & Historical Preservation. During this time I was nominated for multiple Social Studies Teaching awards, including Princeton's Social Studies Teacher of the Year.
I hold an AA from Hudson Community College in History, a BA from Fairleigh Dickinson University in American History with a focus on the writings and impact of Thomas Paine, and an M.Ed. from New Jersey City University in Secondary Education with a focus on teaching Social Studies.
This will be my first year with the Middlesex County Magnet School District. I am looking forward to becoming part of the East Brunswick community and helping the students of the East Brunswick campus on their educational journey.
