Welcome to English class and to Film class. I am Mr. Dockall, and I look forward to seeing each and every one of you in class! Some biographical information about myself: I have dual Bachelor's degrees in Secondary Education (emphasizing education in English Literature and Language Instruction) and in English Literature and Language.
I want to encourage and to warn you: success is possible, but largely dependent upon you and your personal choices about how to use your immense skills, knowledge, and opportunities. You choose how to spend your time and resources, and I encourage you to focus on your successes and learn from your failures. The most important person in your education is you. I hope that you have a great year in class: here's to good reading, to fulfilling writing, and to enjoyable viewing!
Some things that you will need in class:Â
Always come to class prepared with your handy, dandy Notebook and writing utensil. Be it pen or pencil, always have a writing utensil.
Always come to class having done the homework and/or reading assigned prior to class.
Always come to class with any extra needed materials (i.e. during the completion of the Research Paper, bring your research materials, Note Cards, etc.).
If you miss any class, always check with a trusted friend and with Mr. Dockall for any notes, handouts, readings, or activities that you may need to complete. It is also recommended that you check online wherever course materials are posted and in the Class Calendar tab for that specific day in your course.
For most courses taught, information will be posted using the preferred platform for classwork, like Google Classroom or Blackboard. Remember to stay current on postings and materials from those electronic resources.
