MPlayer is a video player application from url or video from internal storage which has many features and very easy navigation.

MPlayer also supports video player for cast devices.

The really great feature of MPlayer is that it can play videos on the internal storage for cast devices.

This feature is rarely owned by other video players because cast devices can only play videos from URLs.

The following are some explanations of MPlayer :

  • MPlayer requires permission to access video files in internal storage.

IMPORTANT NOTE : Playing videos from internal storage is an OPTIONAL FEATURE,

so Requesting permission to access internal storage is NOT MANDATORY. Users can still use MPlayer to play videos from video URLs.

If the User grants permission to access the internal storage, MPlayer will do:

  1. MPlayer only searches for video file information with the extension mp4, mkv, flv, 3gp, avi, wmv, webm, mpeg, mov, m3u8, mpd and srt (subtitle/caption files)

  2. The video information taken is:

  • Video URI used to play in Exoplayer.

  • Video file size, for sort order purposes, such as the largest and smallest size sort order.

  • Video on the date it was made, for sort order purposes, the latest date is at the top of the list.

  • The name of the video file, for the purposes of displaying in the list.

  1. After the video data is collected, the data is stored in the SQLite Database in the local storage of the application. this data WILL NEVER BE SENT TO THE SERVER AND NEVER BE SHARED WITH THIRD PARTIES. This data will be lost if the user deletes the application data or uninstalls the application.

  2. The saved data will be displayed in the form of a list in 2 tabs on the main page of the application, namely the Video tab and the Subtitle tab.

  3. In the list of videos and subtitles, if the user does not want to display some videos or all videos in one folder, MPlayer provides an option to hide videos or folders and all videos in it. MPlayer won't access the videos and folders it hides in the future.

  4. Even if MPlayer is given permission to access the internal storage, MPlayer will NEVER access the /Android/data and /android/obb folders

  5. What if user have private videos and don't want MPlayer to access them? Don't worry, After Mplayer has finished creating a list of videos on the internal storage, MPlayer has a feature to hide (not access) videos and or folders and videos in them.
