Close To the Century ago, “Concepcion” was named “Lawa-an” It is a forest area inhabited by the primitive Tribe called “Mansaka”, at the beginning Lawa-an was nothing but a vast wilderness. It is plenty of big lawa-an trees, its legend explains how it’s named.
Later on, it was simultaneously applied to the settlements on which the Tree stood. In another but related version, it is hold that Father Collin, the first missionary Priest assigned in the area give the place named “Concepcion” which derived from the Patron Saint Immaculate Concepcion.
Prior to its creation, it was called Lower Calabcab of Maco, Municipality also under the provincial government of Davao del Norte.
Barangay Concepcion is the second smallest Barangay among the 11 barangay in the Municipality of Mawab. It is composed of 4 Purok and 3 sitio’s namely: Sitio Matinglob, Sitio Kawayan and Sitio Layo. It has a complete primary and Elementary grades which occupied the six rooms with six teachers with the total number of 175 pupils
This Barangay Owned Land area of 1,271.4910 hectares but mostly are composed of mountains. It is located at northeast part of Municipality of Mawab, bounded in the west portion is Agro- forested land and from East portion to south is corn and coconut product.
