Dr. Abdus Sobhan Golap was born on October 11, 1956 in a traditional political Muslim family of Uttar Ramjanpur village in Kalkini police station of Madaripur subdivision of then greater Faridpur district. He is the second among 5 sons and 2 daughters of father-late Alhaj Md Toiyeb Ali Miah (one of the organizer of the liberation war 1971) and mother-late Alhaj Mrs. Anaran Nesa. Dr. Abdus Sobhan Golap got married in 1992 to Gulshan Ara Khuku, a brilliant student of Dhaka University and Student League leader and he is the father of two sons and one daughter. His grandfather Abdul Latif Bepari (Latu Bepari) was a Naib and Panchayat under the British Government. Uncle Abul Hashem Miah (B.A) was defeated by only 1 vote for the post of MLA from Ghosairhat-Kalkini constituency in the National election held on 2nd January 1965 and he was the Chairman of the Union Parishad for 25 consecutive years. Dr. Abdus Sobhan Golap's younger brother Md. Yunus Ali was the former chairman of Ramjanpur Union Parishad and another younger brother BM Milton Ibrahim is the elected current chairman of Ramjanpur Union Parishad.
