A while back I watched the movie Hackers for the first time, and I fell immediately and deeply in love with it. In particular, the soundtrack is *magnificent*. Orbital, Underworld, Prodigy, I had heard of them before and maybe heard a song or two, but for some reason this movie just made all of this music click for me, and I need more.

"Frank Sinatra" is a song by French recording duo Miss Kittin & The Hacker. The song was originally included on the duo's 1998 EP Champagne and became an anthem of the electroclash scene.[1][2] It was later included on the duo's debut studio album First Album (2001), as well as on Miss Kittin's DJ mix album On the Road (2002).

"Frank Sinatra" is credited as an electroclash and techno song,[1][4] and is noted for its use of deadpan.[5] In the song, Miss Kittin discusses having sex in limousines.[6] According to Terry Sawyer of PopMatters, "In a deadpan cadence done in the accent of Ilsa the She-Wolf of The SS, Miss Kittin [...], created decadent club music for people too arch and smart for typical white label fare. It was a deader and more desolate take on tired convention of the house beat and unknown diva repeating a pithy chorus ad nauseum [sic], an alleged elevation of clich through the detachment of kitsch.[7]

Adam Bregman of Allmusic described the song as "undoubtedly the standout cut on the album."[8] Ed Gonzalez, writing for Slant Magazine, said, "Backed by The Hacker's happy-to-be-cheap retro production, Miss Kittin provides the ultimate electroclash statement: she makes social climbing sound so stupid and empty, while reveling in it."[9]

Slant Magazine placed "Frank Sinatra" at number eighty-six on its 100 Greatest Dance Songs list.[9] Rock De Lux placed the song at number thirteen on the Songs of the Year list for 2001.[10] The Village Voice included the song on its Pazz & Jop Singles list for 2002.[11]

"1982" is a song by French recording duo Miss Kittin & The Hacker. It is the first single from the EP Champagne (1997) and became one of the first anthems of the electroclash scene.[1] It was later included on the duo's debut studio album First Album (2001), and has been remixed by Vitalic and Anthony Rother.

In 1998, the song was featured on the compilation album Just the Best 3/98 by Ariola Records, which charted at number two on both the Austrian Albums Chart and the Swiss Albums Chart.[4] Later that year, the song was also featured on the compilation album Love Parade 1998 - One World One Future by Low Spirit, which charted at number nine on the Austrian Albums Chart and at number four on the Swiss Albums Chart.[5] In 2002, the song was included on compilation album Ultra.80's vs Electro by Ultra Records.[6]

Song and highschooler-turned-hacker Jon Oberheide eventually co-founded an information security company called Duo Security in 2010, based in Ann Arbor, MI. The company now counts Facebook, Etsy, Yelp, and Twitter among its clients, and Benchmark, Google Ventures, Radar Partners, Redbpoint Ventures and True Ventures as investors.

Song had been a member of top hacker group W00W00, which counts the creator of WhatsApp and co-founder of Napster as members. It hacks not out of malice, but to test the security of networks, and calls itself "the largest nonprofit security team in the world."

As a result of that membership, Song was tapped as a security expert, at one point becoming the chief security architect at Arbor Networks. To test if the company's protocols were secure, Song added a fake company inside its system. The "honeypot" was intended to lure hackers to see if they could break in.

"A fan contacted me and said nine of the songs have leaked. This is like six months ago. And they were all probably the most catchy, singley type songs," Corgan said on the radio program. "You're pretty much giving away the album before you even have a chance to even set your feet into the ground."

Music is my passion. It has always been a huge part of my life. Being surrounded by my family who were all singers and musicians, my brother, sisters and I were born with the love for music. I wrote my first song at the age of 10. At the age of 13 I won my first school talent show and I was hooked.

Next time someone sends a song to your iPhone, maybe consider if the sender is trustworthy. Apple killed two vulnerabilities with iOS 10.3 that allowed malicious code to run as soon as an audio file ran on its phones.

An anonymous hacker working with Trend Micro's Zero Day Initiative (ZDI) disclosed the bugs, which affects Apple TV and watchOS too. Defined as a memory corruption flaw, Apple said it had addressed the problem with "improved input validation." For undisclosed reasons, ZDI wasn't permitted to talk about the bugs until today.

This time it was just MP4s (specifically .M4A audio files) that were used by the anonymous hacker to bypass Apple security. Both vulnerabilities took advantage of the fact that there was a lack of proper validation of the length of user-supplied data on iOS. As soon as a specially-crafted audio file was opened, malicious code could execute.

As an added bonus for anyone downloading iOS 10.3 today, it's shipping with the new and encrypted Apple File System (APFS), which should make it harder for hackers and police forensics teams to grab data in plain text from iPhones.

The Cupertino firm also released macOS Sierra 10.12.4 last week, where more critical vulnerabilities were addressed. That included a bug that meant a hacker could siphon off passwords for FileVault encrypted storage on a Mac, as discovered by Swedish security professional Ulf Frisk.

This song is in a rhythm of 7/8; those unaccustomed to odd rhythmsoften take the unevenness to be a mistake. The meter can be analyzedinto three subgroups as slow-quick-quick or 3-2-2. Such meters inBulgarian music can often be stretched, and some musicians analyzethis song as 3-2-3 instead; however, Yves Moreau, who collected andtaught the dance, endorses the rhythm of 7.

The official lyric video for the song "Soul Hacker" from Los Angeles cyber metallers FEAR FACTORY can be seen below. The track is taken from the band's new album "Genexus", which will be released on August 7 via Nuclear Blast Entertainment.

"We chose the song 'Soul Hacker' for the first single 'cause it's heavy, catchy and has a lot of groove," comments FEAR FACTORY guitarist Dino Cazares. "You can really hear the aggression in Burt's [C. Bell] vocals on this one, not to mention on the entire album. We think people are really going to love this song and record; it's super varied, melodic, aggressive and heavy."

Cazares continues: "We wanted to make it a little more interesting than your typical lyric video, so we included some live footage of the band from our last few tours and images of ourselves performing the song on TV screens. Hope you guys like it!"

But for all (two, at least) of the thunder-stealing stories, there must be countless artists who just suffer through the loss of income when hackers steal their creative work or their images, without any sweet smell of revenge.

How much does an average leak sell for?

Of course it depends on the artist, the hype for the song, and the production. For smaller underground artists, like Robb Banks, Unotheactivist, Warhol, songs go for anywhere from US$100 to $200. Then some bigger artists like Swae Lee, Lil Yachty, Offset, people like that go for $300 to $500, maybe even $600 sometimes.

How do these sales happen?

Generally speaking, most of the sales are group-bought because not a lot of people have thousands of dollars to spend on songs. All of these sales happen on [messenger app] Discord. The links get spread through Instagram pages or LEAKTH.IS and then fans all jump in and start to put together the money for the song.

US authorities charged a Texas man this week for hacking into the cloud accounts of two music companies and the social media account of a high-profile music producer, from where he stole unreleased songs that he later published online for free on public internet forums. e24fc04721
