Perfect for Multiple Teaching Formats
Use Rhythm Kaboom as a whole-class activity, in small groups, or for independent practice. It's ideal for centers and stations, making it a versatile tool for both structured lessons and free-choice learning.
To set up:
Print (double the amount for larger class sizes), laminate, then cut out the pages you will use.
Put the Kaboom cards into a small bucket, cup, bag, or box.
Students are formed into groups.
Each student takes a turn pulling out a card. Students can read, play (on an Orff instrument or a drum), or clap and say the pattern.
If the student gives the correct answer, they get to keep the card. If the student gives the wrong answer, they put the card back.
If the students get a “kaboom “card, they put all of their cards back. Then, the next student takes a turn.
Whoever has the most cards when the time runs out wins.
The game continues until everyone has read their card

Kaboom is a mainstay for music centers. Use it as a review game, back to school, end of the year, sub plans, and even when traveling on a cart to teachers' classrooms.
P.S. This game is an excellent opportunity to walk around and take quick student assessments based on their reading skills.
