An Teallach

An Teallach is a traverse of two mountains in one epic walk

Bidein a Ghlas Thuill 1062m Peak o the grey hallow

Sgurr Fiona 1060m Fair Peak

Distance 19km

ascent 1440m 7-11 hours

Start point Either Dundonell or Corrie Hallie NH093879

If you wish to stay at Shenavall Bothy then start at Corrie Hallie on the A832 and walk up Gleann Choiiachain for 5 miles to the bothy. You cross the road and head up the path before taking the right fork. On your right you will see the amphitheatre of An Teallach which is where you will be walking, following the path you start to drop down and soon the bothy appears. This is one of the best spots to spend the night, and if you wanted to do the Fisherfields then this is a natural start and stopping point on your travels.

You walk back up the hill from the day before then cut to make for the ridge by Lochan na Brathan and make your way up the nose of a great corbett Sail Liath. Another descent you will then ascend to cross Stob Cadha Gobhlach and this is the view that greets you.

The view along the Corrag Bhuidhe Pinnacles , Lord Berkleys Seat and Sgurr Fiona could be the scramble that you will enjoy, but there is a path below the pinnacles for you to avoid. The path splits here for these two paths and once you have skirted the path its a simple hike to the top of Sgurr Fiona and the 360 views are striking.

Once you have summited the top its a simple descent before you climb up for the best view of An Teallach. Bidean a Ghlas Thuill gives you a great view of the 3 peaks you will have walked and now its time to take in the whole range of hills you see stretching away.

Once you have enjoyed the views you need to make your way back. The simple route is down into Dundonell ( but it means a long walk back or the use of two cars.) Once you have made your way down to the Bealach there is a cairn to mark a path down to the right. Its a long descent but fairly easy to follow just take your time. The path will continue downwards towards Corrie Hallie and once through the dense hedge you arrive at the road for a simple walk up to the lay-by. An Epic day that will live long in your memory.
