If you want a lightweight, affordable pair of earbuds with a long-lasting case for general daily use and video calls, choose Motorola Sound Buds 135; if you need active noise cancellation, superior call clarity with AI processing, and a secure fit for movement during those same video calls, choose Altec Lansing Nanobuds ANC 2.0.
• Motorola Sound Buds 135: Offers a massive total battery life of 18 hours with a compact, comfortable design and IPX5 water resistance, but relies only on passive isolation rather than active noise cancellation.
• Altec Lansing Nanobuds ANC 2.0: Delivers Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation to block out distractions, features AI-enhanced dual microphones for crystal-clear calls, and boasts an impressive 36-hour total playtime, though the fit is more sport-oriented.
• Best for: The Motorola pick suits commuters or office workers who prioritize comfort and simplicity, while the Altec pick is ideal for anyone in noisy environments or needing a secure fit for active lifestyles.
The Motorola Moto Buds 135 are designed with the everyday user in mind, prioritizing ease of use and comfort over high-end acoustic engineering. These true wireless earbuds feature a sleek, ergonomic shape that sits comfortably in the ear, supported by three different sizes of rubber ear tips to ensure a custom fit. If your primary goal is to have a reliable audio companion for work or school without worrying about complex settings, these buds deliver exactly that. They utilize a Bluetooth 5 connection, which provides stable wireless connectivity for streaming music or taking calls.
For professionals looking for a headset for video calls, the Motorola option includes environmental noise cancellation (ENC) technology built into the microphone system. This helps filter out background chatter so your voice comes through clearly during meetings. The earbuds also support smart touch controls, allowing you to manage volume, skip tracks, or answer calls without reaching for your phone. With an IPX5 water-resistance rating, they can handle sweat during a quick workout or unexpected rain showers, making them versatile enough for a commuter who moves from the subway to the office.

However, you should skip this model if you require deep silence or active isolation from loud environments like busy coffee shops or airplane cabins. Since these earbuds rely on passive noise cancellation via the physical seal of the ear tip, they will not actively generate sound waves to cancel out external noise. Additionally, the charging case takes a full 12 hours to charge fully, which is a trade-off compared to faster-charging competitors. You get six hours of playtime per charge, plus another 12 hours from the case, totaling 18 hours. This is solid, but it lacks the "fast charge" capability where a few minutes of power grants an hour of listening found in other models. Ultimately, this is a choice for someone who values a lightweight, no-fuss experience over advanced audio features.
The Altec Lansing Nanobuds ANC 2.0 target a slightly different audience: those who demand focus and security in their audio experience. The standout feature here is the Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), which uses both feedback and feedforward microphones to actively detect and cancel out unwanted ambient noise. Whether you are trying to concentrate on a script for a presentation or just want to drown out the hum of an air conditioner, this technology creates a quiet bubble around you. This makes them an excellent choice for a best gaming headset for video calls scenario where you need to hear your teammates perfectly without the distraction of room noise.
Durability and fit are central to the design of these earbuds. They feature a unique Altec helix wing fit that locks the earbud securely in place, ensuring they won't fall out even during vigorous movement. Combined with an IP44 waterproof rating, they are built to withstand sweat and splashes, making them perfect for workouts or outdoor runs. The battery performance is exceptional, offering up to nine hours of uninterrupted playtime on a single charge, with the case providing three additional full charges for a total of 36 hours. Even better, a mere five-minute charge gives you an hour of listening time, solving the anxiety of a dead battery right before a meeting.
For video calls specifically, these earbuds shine with their dual-microphone setup per earbud and improved AI-based clear calling. This hardware works in tandem with the noise-canceling capabilities to ensure your voice is crisp and isolated from background noise. They also support Bluetooth multipoint, allowing you to connect to two devices simultaneously, such as a laptop and a smartphone, which is a game-changer for multitasking. While they lack the ultra-lightweight feel of some entry-level buds, the added weight of the ANC hardware and wings is a fair trade-off for the security and silence they provide. If you are someone who moves around often or works in a chaotic environment, these are the earbuds you need.
