Exemplary: Frequent assessments occur at regular intervals throughout the course, providing students with timely feedback on learning and performance.
Formative assessments are opportunities to check-in on student learning. The more frequent these assessments occur, the more opportunities instructors have to offer the valuable support, guidance, and feedback to students. Consider a weekly discussion, knowledge check, or reflection assignment to provide the feedback and contact to students at regular intervals throughout the class.

In her Math 119 course, Prof. Kelly Spoon provides frequent formative assessment activities for students. Doing so allows her to check in with students' understanding early enough to provide feedback and support as soon as they need it.
