Mission Statement
The Morro Bay Little Guards program provides kids ages 6-8 the opportunity to experience and learn about the ocean during a two week program in Morro Bay, California. MBLGs will participate in numerous individual and team games that will give them the skills, knowledge, and confidence to comfortably recreate at the beach and in the ocean for years to come.
Becoming a Morro Bay Little Guard is a child's first step towards a lifetime spent in the ocean!
Staffing and Swimming
We maintain a ratio of 9:1 participants to staff during program operations.
Although we spend time in the shallow waters of the bay and ocean, MBLG's is a beach-based program and swim skills are useful but not required for a participant to be safe and successful.
Activities
We offer three hours of instruction per session and focus on team building exercises, fitness, education and aquatic safety.
Location
The program is held on the south side of Morro Rock inside of the North Jetty, at the beach commonly referred to as Widdle Walls. There is a gate that keeps cars from driving up to the beach, so kids can either be walked out to the beach with a parent or with a staff member who will be waiting outside the gate in the morning.
Driving Directions: Follow Coleman Drive towards Morro Rock, and keep going all the way to the locked gate. On your right will be Morro Rock and on your left will be the harbor entrance/south jetty.
In the picture below, Widdle Walls is the patch of beach on the bottom left and the gate drop off location is on the top right, just beneath the small words "Coleman Dr".

Uniform
Participants are required to wear their MBLG shirt we hand out on the first day. Additionally we ask that the kids wear any solid navy or black swim suits. The girls need a speedo type and the boys can have either elastic waist or board short type.
Sweatshirts are available for purchase but are not required.
