If you want marathon battery life and a secure neckband fit for hard training, choose MORMOQUE G5; if you need open-ear comfort you can wear for hours without pressure, choose iLive Electronics True. That's the short version. The long version is more interesting, because these two headphones solve completely different problems, and picking the wrong one is an easy mistake to make.
• MORMOQUE G5 — biggest strength: A neckband design with dual 140mAh batteries rated for up to 36 hours of playback, plus ENC noise suppression that cuts ambient sound by up to 35dB for calls.
• MORMOQUE G5 — biggest trade-off: It's an in-ear, wired-to-the-band design with a 100ms audio latency figure and no official waterproofing beyond IPX5 — it's built for movement, not for sitting still or swimming.
• iLive Electronics True — biggest strength: A true wireless open-ear clip design with Bluetooth 5.4 and a charging case that stores and recharges the buds between sessions.
• iLive Electronics True — biggest trade-off: No listed battery-hour rating, no noise control at all, and only a 90-day limited warranty — the shortest coverage of the two.
• Who each is for: MORMOQUE G5 suits runners, cyclists and gym-goers who want one charge to last all week. iLive Electronics True suits people who hate things stuffed into their ear canals and want buds they can forget they're wearing.
The G5 is a sports-first neckband. The frame is curved and made from flexible, durable material, and it sits around your neck instead of relying on your ear to hold it up. That matters more than it sounds. When you're jogging, climbing or cycling, a neckband takes the load off your ears entirely, and the magnetic earbuds snap together when you're not using them, so they don't swing around or tangle. The earbuds are in-ear with a circular earpiece shape, and the whole unit weighs 30.5 grams — light enough that it shouldn't be a factor on a long ride.
Audio is where the spec sheet gets specific. There's a 10mm dynamic driver, a 20Hz–20KHz frequency range, 98 ohm impedance and 98dB sensitivity, and MORMOQUE leans hard on "HiFi stereo deep bass" as the tuning goal. The ENC (environmental noise cancellation) microphone is the genuinely useful part for anyone taking calls mid-workout — the brand states it suppresses background noise by up to 35dB, which is the difference between a call your friend can hear and one they can't. Press the power button three times and you drop into gaming mode, where the listed 100ms latency is meant to keep audio and video closer together.
Battery is the headline. Two 140mAh cells give a claimed 36 hours at full volume, with the average life listed at 30 hours and 26 hours when routed through the carrying case. A full charge takes about 1.5 hours over USB-C. Bluetooth 5.3 handles pairing, range is listed at 10 meters, and the earphone can hold connections to two devices at once so you can hop between a phone and a laptop without re-pairing. IPX5 sweatproofing covers running, hiking, yoga and gym work. There's a 1-year manufacturer warranty.
Buy it if you train regularly, want week-long battery, and value a call-focused microphone. Skip it if you dislike in-ear tips, want a fully wireless bud with no band, or need something rated for heavier water exposure than sweat.
The iLive True takes the opposite approach. These are true wireless open-ear clip earbuds — nothing goes into your ear canal. The clip hooks over the ear instead, which is the whole point of the form factor: iLive's own description frames it around fighting fatigue for long-term listening. If you've ever pulled earbuds out after an hour because your ears felt hot and sore, this is the design aimed at you.
The build is plastic and silicone, black, and the buds live in a wireless charging case that both protects and recharges them — pop them in, get a full charge, go again. Bluetooth 5.4 is the newer of the two wireless versions here, which generally means better connection stability and power efficiency. Inside, large precision-engineered dynamic drivers cover a 20Hz–20,000Hz range. There's a handsfree speakerphone for calls, and the sweatproof design is stated as safe for heavy exercise. Controls are voice-based, and the built-in media list includes a cable and user manual alongside the case.
Here's where honesty matters. The data sheet lists no battery-hour figure for the buds or the case, no IP rating number, and no noise control at all — the noise control field is simply "None." Those aren't flaws invented by me; they're gaps in what's published. The warranty is a 90-day limited, which is short. And one oddity worth flagging: the feature bullets include a line about an iLive "Tunes+" Bluetooth speaker with color-changing LEDs. That's a product-line reference, not a feature of these earbuds — don't buy the True expecting a light show.
Buy it if open-ear comfort is your priority, you want true wireless with a charging case, and you mostly listen in environments where you want to stay aware of your surroundings. Skip it if you need noise suppression for calls, want a documented battery rating before you commit, or want longer warranty coverage.
• Best for battery life → MORMOQUE G5. Up to 36 hours claimed, 30 hours average, 26 hours via the case. The iLive True publishes no hour figure.
• Best for long-wear comfort → iLive Electronics True. Open-ear clips avoid ear-canal pressure entirely; the G5 is in-ear with a neckband.
• Best for calls in noisy places → MORMOQUE G5. ENC with a stated 35dB ambient noise reduction versus "None" for noise control on the True.
• Best for staying aware of traffic and surroundings → iLive Electronics True. Open-ear by design lets outside sound in.
• Best for secure fit during hard training → MORMOQUE G5. IPX5 sweatproofing, magnetic buds, flexible neckband, 30.5g.
• Best for newer wireless tech → iLive Electronics True. Bluetooth 5.4 versus 5.3.
• Best for multi-device switching → MORMOQUE G5. Dual-device pairing is listed; the True's sheet doesn't mention it.
• Best for lower-latency gaming audio → MORMOQUE G5. A dedicated gaming mode with a 100ms latency figure; the True lists no latency spec.
• Best for warranty confidence → MORMOQUE G5. 1-year manufacturer coverage versus 90 days.
In my opinion, the MORMOQUE G5 is the smarter buy for most people. It publishes real numbers — 36-hour battery, 35dB noise reduction, Bluetooth 5.3, IPX5, a 1-year warranty — and every one of them maps to something you'll actually notice during a workout or a phone call. The iLive True wins on one thing that matters a lot to a specific group: open-ear comfort with no canal pressure and a charging case. If that's your dealbreaker, buy the True. If not, the G5 gives you more documented capability for the same kind of money. Check the current price on Amazon for both before you decide.
Both are sweatproof and workout-friendly, but they solve it differently. The G5 uses IPX5 sweatproofing plus a flexible neckband and magnetic buds for a secure fit. The iLive True relies on open-ear clips that hook over your ear. For intense, sweaty sessions I'd lean G5; for steady jogs where you want to hear traffic, the True makes sense.
Does the iLive Electronics True have noise cancellation?
MORMOQUE lists up to 36 hours at full volume, a 30-hour average, and 26 hours via the carrying case, with a 1.5-hour USB-C charge time. iLive does not publish a battery-hour rating for the True or its charging case, so there's no like-for-like comparison available — you'd be buying on the case-recharge concept rather than a stated number.
The MORMOQUE G5 carries a 1-year manufacturer warranty. The iLive Electronics True carries a 90-day limited warranty. If coverage length matters to you, that's a clear difference in the G5's favor.
Prices change often and I don't quote them here. Compare the live figures on Amazon for both — the page has a button for that — and weigh the G5's documented battery, ENC and 1-year warranty against the True's open-ear comfort and charging case.
