If you want a premium, secure-fit listening experience for daily commuting and high-energy workouts that keeps you aware of your surroundings without stuffing your ears, choose MOOR Black OpenWave Open; if you need a dedicated, fully submersible device for lap swimming with built-in music storage that works independently of your phone, choose UooEA Bone Conduction Swimming. These two products solve fundamentally different problems, and picking the wrong one leaves you frustrated either because it lacks waterproofing for the pool or because it fails to deliver the deep bass and comfort needed for a long flight.
• MOOR Black OpenWave Open: Offers powerful 16.2mm dynamic drivers for rich stereo sound and an ergonomic open-ear design perfect for running or flying, but it is only IPX4 splash-resistant, not for full submersion.
• UooEA Bone Conduction Swimming: Delivers true IP68 waterproofing and 32GB of onboard storage for phone-free underwater use, but relies on bone conduction technology which naturally sacrifices deep bass and offers less isolation from wind noise.
• Who picks MOOR: The commuter, runner, or traveler who prioritizes audio fidelity and all-day comfort over total water immersion.
• Who picks UooEA: The serious swimmer who needs a reliable, waterproof MP3 player that can handle being submerged in chlorinated or saltwater pools.
The MOOR Black OpenWave Open targets the person who wants the freedom of open-ear audio without sacrificing the punchy, detailed sound quality usually reserved for larger headphones. Its standout feature is the large 16.2mm dynamic driver. Most open-ear competitors rely on smaller drivers that often result in thin, weak audio, especially in the bass frequencies. With these 16.2mm units, the MOOR delivers what feels like a much fuller sonic experience, making it genuinely enjoyable for genres like electronic, hip-hop, and rock where rhythm and depth matter. If you are looking for the best over ear headphones for airplane travel that don't press against your head or cause pressure buildup, this design hits the sweet spot. The open-ear architecture allows air to circulate, preventing that sweaty, trapped feeling that plagues in-ear buds during long flights or intense cardio sessions.
Comfort is not just a buzzword here; it is engineered into the build. Weighing in at just 12.7 grams per earpiece, they rest gently on the top of the ear rather than inside the canal. This specific placement eliminates the pain points associated with traditional earbuds, such as the "plugged up" sensation or the physical fatigue from holding heavy devices in your ear for hours. The silicone material adds a layer of softness that feels secure yet unobtrusive. Whether you are navigating a busy airport terminal or tackling a morning jog, the secure fit ensures they stay put without needing constant adjustment.

For those concerned about safety and communication, the inclusion of four microphones with ENC (Environmental Noise Cancellation) technology is a game-changer. While the open design means you hear the world around you, the ENC actively filters out background chatter and wind so your voice comes through clearly on calls. This makes them an excellent choice for someone who needs to stay connected while staying aware. However, buyers must understand the trade-off: they are rated IPX4, meaning they can handle sweat and light rain, but they cannot survive a dunk in a pool. If your primary goal is to listen to music while swimming laps, this is simply not the right tool for the job. It excels at keeping you safe and comfortable in dry or damp environments, offering a balance of security and audio performance that few other open-ear designs match.
The UooEA Bone Conduction Swimming unit exists for a very specific niche: the swimmer who refuses to compromise on their playlist. Unlike standard Bluetooth headphones that struggle underwater, this device features a dual-mode capability that seamlessly switches between wireless connectivity and a standalone 32GB MP3 player mode. The ability to store up to 1,000 songs directly on the device is critical for swimmers who do not want to carry their phones to the pool deck. Once the headphones are submerged, the Bluetooth signal becomes unreliable, but the internal MP3 player takes over instantly, ensuring uninterrupted music flow beneath the surface. This is the defining advantage that separates it from almost every other product on the market.
Waterproofing is the non-negotiable pillar of this product. With an IP68 rating, it is built to withstand complete submersion in both fresh and saltwater. You do not have to worry about chlorine damage or accidental drops in the water; the plastic and silicone enclosure is sealed to protect the internal components. This level of protection is essential for anyone training in a pool or ocean environment. The bone conduction driver type transmits sound vibrations through the cheekbones directly to the inner ear, bypassing the eardrum entirely. This design choice allows you to hear your music while still hearing splashes, lane lines, and coaches' instructions, maintaining situational awareness even when your head is underwater.
However, this technology comes with inherent acoustic limitations. Because the sound is transmitted through bone rather than air, the bass response is naturally lighter compared to dynamic drivers found in the MOOR model. If you are looking for the thumping, chest-rattling bass of a club track, you will notice a difference immediately. The sound profile is clearer and more focused on mid-to-high frequencies, which helps with lyrics and rhythmic clarity underwater where bass waves dissipate quickly anyway. The lightweight, ergonomic design ensures a snug fit that won't slip even when you are doing flip turns or diving. This is the definitive solution for athletes who need a rugged, waterproof companion that functions as a standalone media player, but it is likely overkill—and underperforming in terms of sound quality—for someone who mostly listens while walking or sitting at a desk.
• Best for deep bass and rich stereo sound → MOOR Black OpenWave Open. The 16.2mm dynamic drivers provide a much fuller frequency range suitable for rock and hip-hop, whereas the UooEA relies on bone conduction which inherently lacks low-end weight.
• Best for swimming and underwater use → UooEA Bone Conduction Swimming. Only the UooEA offers true IP68 submersion capabilities and a built-in 32GB MP3 player that works independently of your phone underwater.
• Best for long-haul flights and comfort → MOOR Black OpenWave Open. The ultra-lightweight 12.7g build and open-ear design prevent ear fatigue during long periods of wear, making it superior for travel scenarios where you might want to sleep or relax.
• Best for hands-free calling in noisy environments → MOOR Black OpenWave Open. Four microphones with ENC technology offer superior call clarity by filtering ambient noise, a feature not highlighted for the UooEA model.
• Best for phone-free workouts → UooEA Bone Conduction Swimming. The integrated 32GB storage means you can leave your phone at home and still take your entire library with you, a crucial feature for swimmers who cannot carry devices.
• Best for general sports and running → MOOR Black OpenWave Open. The IPX4 rating handles sweat and rain perfectly, and the secure fit prevents falling during vigorous movement without the bulkiness of some swimming-specific gear.
• Best value for versatility → MOOR Black OpenWave Open. While the UooEA is specialized, the MOOR serves as a high-quality daily driver for commuting, gym work, and casual listening, covering a broader range of activities.
• Best for durability in harsh wet conditions → UooEA Bone Conduction Swimming. The IP68 seal guarantees resistance to dust and full water immersion, far exceeding the splash-proof rating of the MOOR.
In my opinion, I would buy the MOOR Black OpenWave Open for my personal daily use. As someone who spends a significant amount of time traveling and commuting, the combination of high-fidelity sound from the 16.2mm drivers and the sheer comfort of the open-ear design makes it the superior choice for the average user. It strikes the perfect balance between audio quality and situational awareness, making it the best noise cancelling bluetooth headset for airplane scenarios where you need to hear announcements but also want great music. The UooEA is an incredible tool for its specific purpose, and I respect its engineering for swimmers, but unless you spend hours underwater, the lack of bass and the specialized nature make it a harder sell for general lifestyle use. If you are buying for the plane, the train, or the gym, the MOOR wins on versatility and sound.
No, the MOOR Black OpenWave Open has an IPX4 rating, which protects against sweat and light rain, but it is not designed for submersion in water. Attempting to swim with them could damage the electronics.
No, the UooEA features a built-in 32GB MP3 player that stores up to 1,000 songs. You can switch to MP3 mode and enjoy music completely independently of your smartphone while submerged.
Both utilize open-ear designs that avoid inserting anything into the ear canal, making them generally comfortable for sensitive ears. However, the MOOR's 12.7g weight and silicone construction may feel slightly lighter for extended wear compared to the slightly heavier plastic build of the UooEA.
While the UooEA supports Bluetooth for everyday use, the microphone quality for calls underwater is not specified as a primary feature. It is optimized for audio playback in aquatic environments rather than voice transmission during active swimming.
