Prayer for Australia
God of all creation, we weep at the destruction wrought by wildfires in Australia. The images of land, homes, people and animals decimated by flames and smoke evoke cries of “How long, O Lord?”
Bring relief to those suffering unspeakable loss. Grant respite for firefighters and first responders, helpers of all kinds and leaders making difficult decisions. Even as the land is engulfed in devastation, grant hope for new life and restoration. Grow our resolve to do all that is in our power to stop the conditions that are the catalysts of countless natural disasters.
Envelop your beloved world with a vision of your promised future, where crying and death are no more, where the river of life flows, tress shelter all nations and every creature is cared for with compassion. May your peaceful and certain future compel us to actions that give glimpses of its beauty today, especially in those places most in need of your healing. Amen.

In Dublin on December 13th last, a meeting was held with Sr Catherine Brennan and Dean Rock of the Eco Congregation Ireland . Also attending this meeting were Srs Evelyn Byrne and Margaret Mary Healy who explained passionately their work in bringing the Challenge to Change Programme to Irish Schools. Having presented a selection of Presentation Work on environmental topics here the meeting was a chance for Eco Congregation to explore in more detail all that might interest them. They were particularly interested in Challenge to Change. As a concept it was new to them and keen to learn more they eagerly considered all that the sisters had to offer. Equally too they were inspired by the story of the Lixnaw Bog and the development of Nano Nagle Place and how it strove to include the Good Day Deli, by now an award wining restaurant with unimpeachable sustainable credentials. The Presentation Sisters in Ireland have been lauded for their efforts to live a sustainable life whilst encouraging others to take on the challenge of the SDGs as together we can live the message of Laudato Si as we mind our planet for all the generations to come.

At the Justice Desk we are aligned with many Charities, NGOs and others both in Ireland, the UK and internationally. Many offer newsletters or updates (some with great resources) and I have linked all to the pick of the Newsletters here.

I might recommend the Maryknoll Newsletter this month as it contains some very timely and interesting resources here
I also added the Unanima Newsletter here as this gives a great roundup of all that is the SDGs after the High Level Political Forum last July and the SDG Summit at the UN General Assembly in September 2019.
