Why restore and preserve the Coral Reefs

Despite current challenges, 2020 is still a super year for biodiversity, and the UN is working hard this month to keep up the momentum for ocean action, including hosting webinars and promoting science-based solutions for the ocean. Today, on World Oceans Day, UN DESA has issued a new edition of the Ocean Action Newsletter (below) to update our ocean stakeholders about the latest efforts to achieve SDG 14. In this issue, you will find the latest information about the UN World Oceans Day commemoration, a message from Peter Thomson, the UN Secretary-General’s the Special Envoy for the Ocean, and the latest updates from the Communities of Ocean Action.
