The Monterey Ukulele Club operates under the auspices of the Monterey Recreation Centre.

We enjoy singing and playing music in a friendly supportive environment while building our ukulele skills. Our weekly sessions have a turnout from 30 to 40 participants.

Members of our Club have various levels of ukulele skill from basic to advanced. New members, with their own ukulele and competency in basic chords, are always welcome to join. Our Club is not for beginning ukulele players and does not provide lessons; however, lessons are available through the Centre. Contact Centre Reception for details.

At each session Club members choose songs which they can lead or are led by one of our leaders. There are also open mic opportunities. Our Club undertakes a number of themed performances each year, for example: Hawaiian, sixties, country and western, specific holidays, etc.

We maintain a Club songbook. Our taste is best described as eclectic. Members can purchase a paper book for a copying fee, or they can use a free downloadable tablet friendly version.  Members can recommend candidate songs for the Club to play and consider for future songbook updates.

We have special song sets for holidays and other special occasions. A few music stands are available but it is helpful that many members bring their own stands.

Prospective members are welcome to attend up to 3 sessions for free before joining the Club. We have a few songbooks available for guests to use while they are at the Centre.

Club members must have a $55 annual Monterey Recreation Centre Social Activities Membership, which can be purchased at Monterey Centre Reception. 

There is a $25 annual Ukulele Club fee which is also paid at the Monterey Centre Reception.  A six month Club fee of $12.50 is available for members who are only in Victoria for a portion of the year.  Prices are in effect until August 31, 2025.
