Today, we are interviewing Taylor Crowe, a player on MRHS's girls soccer team. I asked her a multitude of questions, mainly what drives someone to want to play soccer. What is the interest? What inspires her to play? And when is the team at their best?
When Taylor was asked why she was interested in soccer, she spoke kindly about all of her teammates and coaches:"I love how connected our soccer team is. Everybody is super sweet," Taylor said. "I've also always loved the competition." Though it can be intense, she explained that it was all on the field, and both her teammates and she enjoyed the competition. "They are all very supportive and love the game just as much as I do."
When asked who inspired her on the field the most/who lifted and supported her when she felt down, Taylor mentioned that"the players, as well as the coaches, are very encouraging." She added, "Even when we lose, everybody is able to come together and discuss what happened and what we could do to play better next time. We lift each other up as a team." Her team is stronger when they work together to help each other and help them in the game.
When asked when she thought she was playing her best, whether when she pushes herself to work harder or gets good support from one of her teammates, she said the other players are good at focusing on the game and being kind. "I think I am at my best when everybody is getting along with one another," Taylor explained. When people want to help their teammates and work on themselves, they play better than when they try to ignore their mistakes and forget other people's problems, focusing only on the game.
I wanted to know how soccer is unlike any other sport, whether when they have a win or when on the field if she thought that more people play soccer, and why or why not. Taylor responded promptly, mentioning how "soccer differs from other sports because it involves understanding how your teammates play." She explained, "More people should play soccer because it is an excellent opportunity to gain skills and lifelong friendships."
This interview with Taylor truly opened my eyes to the world of girls soccer here at Monomoy, and hopefully, it will inspire many to either join the team or watch their fantastic games!
