Dear Abigail,
I hope you can understand what I am about to say. I am writing because I cannot bring myself to meet you in person and say this.
I just came back from the court. I told them everything; I told them about how you were lying and pretending and that we were not conjuring spirits in the woods. Abigail, I could not keep this secret anymore. I could not bear to see innocent people get accused and punished for actions they did not do. I told the truth because I care about Elizabeth Proctor and could not let her get punished for something she did not commit.
I never wanted things to end up like this, but the guilt and mountain of lies keep eating away at me. Not only that, but I keep thinking about all the innocent people who have been hung and killed because of your accusations. I just had to get the truth out there so this madness would not go on, and maybe I could save some people.
Although people may not believe me I must try and do something, and try and stop this once and for all.
Yours Truly,Mary Warren.
