Under the Section 106 Agreement dated 14th April 2008 and the subsequent Deed of Variation dated 7th August 2012, there was an obligation on the developers to consult the community on proposed traffic calming on certain roads in the area coloured on 'Plan 8' reproduced here. The aforementioned documents can be found on Somerset West and Taunton Council's website using this link [https://www2.somersetwestandtaunton.gov.uk/asp/webpages/plan/PlAppDets.asp?casefullref=48/05/0072]

If the majority of voters support the proposals, the developers will implement the measures. If the majority of voters oppose the proposals, they will not. Please add your vote and comments at the bottom of this Page by 31st January 2020.
Since these agreements were signed, some traffic calming measures have already been installed or approved, such as signalised crossings, bus gates, red surfacing etc. so the consultation is based on the provision of ADDITIONAL measures.
The below Proposed Traffic Calming Strategy Plan has been produced for this purpose and indicates both the elements of traffic calming that are already approved and those that are to be consulted on. (To view full size, please click on the pop-out link in the top right corner of the Plan below)

Any element of calming highlighted in grey is approved and does NOT form part of this consultation.
The proposed traffic calming is highlighted in red, and includes a mixture of speed cushions, kerb build outs (localised road narrowing) and red surfacing at junctions, all of which will reduce the speed of traffic moving along the highway.
