How do they behave?

Capuchin monkeys are diurnal and arboreal. They are social animals and live in groups of up to 35 members. A group usually consists of related females, their offspring, and a couple of adult males. They will spend time each day grooming each other to build social bonds. Capuchins are territorial and maintain their territories by urine marking and physical defense against intruders. In their dense forest homes, vocal communication is a must. They will scream, chatter or bark to express warning, disturbances or their location.

How smart are they?

Capuchins are considered the most intelligent of the New World monkeys. They will collect rocks, store them, and use them as tools to open hard nuts and shellfish. These monkeys learn techniques from their parents and older members of the group, and it can take years to master these skills. In captivity, capuchins require constant enrichment to keep them mentally and physically fit.

What do they look like?

Capuchins are lean, agile monkeys. They generally weigh two to three pounds and are 12 to 22 inches long, head to rump; their tails are about as long as their body length and are prehensile, which means they can hold on to branches and act as a fifth limb. Coloration varies by species, though their backs, arms, legs and tails are typically brown or black in color while their faces, necks, and chests are lighter in color. They have flat faces with forward facing eyes, rounded ears and opposable thumbs.

We just updated the happy hour info for The Dirty Monkey in Lahaina, Maui! This is a great bar. Affordable versus the other places nearby on Front Street. The bartenders are super nice and capable. My favorite part is probably the shuffleboard and games that are in the adjoining room. All free to play and lots of fun. Definitely check out happy hour at The Dirty Monkey next time you are in Lahaina.

Buddhist Monkey is a yellow-orange anthropomorphic monkey who has appeared in only three episodes, Enter the Garden, Books of Fury, and Three Courses of Death, all of which he has survived and starred in. His enemies, the Generic Tree Ninjas, are bears that try to destroy what he cherishes, like in Enter the Garden when the Ninjas destroyed several of his plants, and in Books of Fury when they ripped and colored in several of the Monkey's books. Buddhist Monkey has appeared in three other episodes. In Rink Hijinks, there was a picture of him in a crane machine. In Blind Date, at the drive in, the movie was Books of Fury, and in Keepin' it Reel it was Enter the Garden. Buddhist Monkey is the only starring character that has never died in the series. His arch nemesis is The Dark Shadow Lord.

In the Ka-Pow! episode Three Courses of Death, we learn a little more about Buddhist Monkey's past. When he was a younger monkey, still in training, he had an afro that was burned off by the fire of his sensei (which would explain why he is bald). Through his sensei's teachings, Buddhist Monkey learned how to control fire with his hands, eventually becoming strong enough to boil the water of an entire lake. In the episode, Buddhist Monkey was able to defeat his nemesis' right hand man, Char Sui. Though he never actually meets his unseen enemy, it can be assumed that the two will do battle in the future. However, with Ka-Pow canceled, this scenario won't come any time soon.

The main character is a boy named Chiro. When he was exploring the outskirts of the city, he stumbled upon a giant abandoned robot partially overgrown with plants but still accessible. Once inside, his curiosity got the better of him and he pulls an old power switch among a series of stasis tanks. In doing so, he awakened the five robotic monkeys that form the Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce. In the process Chiro also fused himself with the mysterious supernatural energy of the Power Primate, allowing him to transform into a stronger, braver fighter and the leader of the team. With the aid of the five Robot Monkeys: Sparx, Antauri, Gibson, Otto and Nova, their mission is to save Shuggazoom City from the evil Skeleton King, the main villain of the series, as well as any other evil forces that may threaten it.

Since Chiro was not born a superhero, or with any enhanced abilities, the five Robot Monkeys take up training him to hone his abilities which results in him leading the team. With each member possessing a different set of skills Chiro acts as a unifying force keeping them on point where they otherwise might fall to differing opinions, in addition to being familiar with the current culture of Shuggazoom. With the monkeys continuing to train Chiro he grows into the leader they need with the potential to fulfill his greater destiny as protector of the universe.

The ability to interpret facial expressions of others is one of the more important abilities possessed by humans. However, is it possible for humans to accurately interpret the facial expressions of another species of primate, namely rhesus monkeys (Macaca mulatta)? We investigated this possibility by taking digital photos of four rhesus monkeys housed either singly or socially and allowing thirty-one participants to judge these photographs as representing either a happy, sad, or neutral monkey. Results indicated that the photographs of monkeys that were socially housed were more likely to be rated as happy or neutral than were photographs of singly housed monkeys. We suggest that these results imply important parallels between the perception of human and nonhuman primate facial expressions as well as introduce a potential new method for assessing nonhuman primate well-being. ff782bc1db
