Feeding toddlers can feel like a big puzzle—what they eat today, they might refuse tomorrow. That’s why having both variety and a system for tracking what works (and what doesn’t) is so helpful.
Toddlers are still building up food tolerances.
Keeping a record helps you notice patterns (foods that cause tummy trouble, or favorites your child keeps asking for).
It makes introducing new foods less stressful because you can see what’s working.
Here’s a simple structure (from my own record-keeping) that you can use to track your toddler’s meals:
This format keeps things simple: write down what your toddler ate, and note whether there was a bowel movement or reaction afterward. Over time, you’ll see which foods digest easily and which might cause issues.
Here are some great first foods and toddler-friendly options you can rotate:
Fruits: Bananas, applesauce, pears, blueberries, watermelon.
Veggies: Sweet potatoes, peas, carrots, green beans, zucchini.
Proteins: Scrambled eggs, shredded chicken, turkey meatballs, beans.
Grains: Oatmeal, whole wheat toast, pasta, rice.
Snacks: Yogurt, cheese sticks, veggie straws, crackers.
