We respect your privacy. This app is built with a strict **local-first approach**, meaning your financial data stays completely on your device and is never transmitted to external servers.
## 2. Information We Access & Collect
**SMS Messages (Required Permission)**
MoMo Expenses Tracker requires the `READ_SMS` permission to function as an automated financial tracker. The core functionality of the app relies on reading these messages.
Specifically, the app:
* **Reads** incoming and stored SMS messages strictly from known mobile money shortcodes and senders (e.g., MTN, Telecel, AirtelTigo).
* **Extracts** transaction details such as the transaction amount, transaction type (sent, received, airtime, bundle, bill, betting, etc.), merchant name, and date/time.
* **Ignores** all personal conversations, OTPs, and non-financial messages.
## 3. How Your Data Is Used
All data processing happens **locally** on your device. Your data is used exclusively to:
* Build your personal financial dashboard and display transaction history.
* Calculate total spending, income, and account balances.
* Categorize expenses (e.g., utility bills, subscriptions, transport).
* Provide AI-driven financial insights and smart merchant memory based on your past spending habits.
## 4. Data Storage & Security
* **Local Storage:** All extracted financial data is stored locally in an encrypted SQLite database on your device.
* **No Cloud Sync:** No data is uploaded, backed up, or synced to any external server or cloud provider by us.
* **On-Device Security:** We provide optional in-app security features (such as Biometric/PIN authentication and Screenshot Protection) to help you secure the app. However, you are ultimately responsible for the overall security of your device (e.g., maintaining a secure screen lock).
## 5. Data Sharing & Disclosure
We are committed to your privacy. MoMo Expenses Tracker:
* ❌ **Does NOT** upload your personal or financial data to the internet.
* ❌ **Does NOT** share data with third-party analytics, marketing, or advertising companies.
* ❌ **Does NOT** sell user data under any circumstances.
Your information remains 100% private and confined to your device.
## 6. Permissions Explained
* **SMS Permission:** Requested via a Prominent Disclosure in the app. Without this permission, the app cannot automatically parse your transactions and will not function as intended.
* **Biometrics (Optional):** Used locally to verify your identity before opening the app. We do not have access to your biometric data.
## 7. Children’s Privacy
MoMo Expenses Tracker is not intended for children under the age of 13. The app does not knowingly collect data from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
