BEACON is an emergency innovation to give Nigerians in troubled areas a chance to survive and escape from armed conflict even before it reaches them. In NIGERIA for the last few years thousands have lost their lives due to armed violence. some still have been kidnapped and never got their freedom. Imagine if these individuals could see the danger before it gets to them, imagine they could find the nearest location of safety after and attack, imagine if Law enforcement could get real time location updates of kidnap victims location.
All these are accomplished by BEACON.
Beacon uses Geolocation and maps to help residents find nearest point of safety, send location to rescue teams and also get live saving medical tips.
For this project a dedicated mobile App and a complementary responsive website. Â

Test/Iteration/Usability study
Research grouped the users into 2 personas with their respective problem statements. I employed a primary approach to research which would involve directly interviewing people who have had experience with armed violence. The personas are as follows:
1) Name: Chukwuka
Age:50, State: Imo.
Problem statement: Chukwuka is a business man who is always travelling by road which is a risky way to travel and needs to know the quickest route to safety incase there is an attack by bandits and needs to run.
2) Name: Mustapha
Age:25, State:Borno
Problem statement: Mustapha is a farmer who needs to be able to alert rescue authorities of his location because he could be kidnapped or be stuck in the middle of an armed conflict.
FOR THIS PROJECT I HANDLED THE USER RESEARCH, WIREFRAMING, PROTOTYPING AND VISUAL DESIGN. THIS IS A USER EXPERIENCE DESIGN FOR SOCIAL GOOD.Â
THIS WAS DONE USING ADOBE XD.
