Bruce Chatwin's name is used to sell Moleskine notebooks.[3] Chatwin wrote in The Songlines of little black oilskin-covered notebooks that he bought in Paris and called "moleskines".[4] The name Moleskine does not have an official pronunciation.[5]

I have definitely noticed a difference in the paper starting last year. I actually went to a moleskine store and asked the sales associate if he could tell the difference, and he did tell me that they switched suppliers, so there is a difference in the paper. I still love my Moleskine Le Petit Prince planner, but I have been experimenting with other notebooks too.

I would love to provide you with images of my new moleskine which the quality of has gone down even further! The customer service has responded by basically wishing me luck and telling me the quality is exactly the same. Nice huh?

well good thing we have social media these days.

My experience is that, at least for the Moleskine Elipse + smart pen, the Moleskine Notes app was required, and this unfortunately limited my selection of notebooks to moleskine-branded ones. Neo Notes would not recognize and register the pen.

Most of what we know about the original moleskine notebooks -- including their French name -- comes from a description by writer Bruce Chatwin in his book The Songlineswhich was published in 1987. If you want to read everything he wrote about the Moleskine Notebooks, you'll have to get the book, but here are are a few excerpts:

As I mentioned above, the original blank books were called les carnets moleskines and they were produced by several manufacturers until the last one went out of business in the mid 1980s.

As I mentioned above, the stationery shop owner told Bruce Chatwin in the 1980's, Le vrai moleskine n'est plus (The true moleskine is no more), which implies that there were authentic Moleskines as well as imitations at the time. That is also the case today, and one could argue that the Moleskine brand is the only true Moleskine even now.

Some Moleskine imitations are not worth considering because they are not stitch bound and do not lie flat when open. But there are a few "les carnets moleskines" that are just as good or better than the Moleskine brand, depending on your needs.

I received an evernote moleskine as a gift. It was completely wrapped in plastic. In the back is a code for 3 free months of premium. I went to evernote.com/moleskine and entered the code. It asked me to create an account and when I tried that, it told me I already had one (which I totally forgot about) so I requested a password reset and logged in. The code did not get attached to my account, so I went back to evernote.com/moleskine and it is now telling me the code has already been used. How do I recover this?

I use moleskine 914 notebooks one for shopping lists one for general aids to my memory writing with a 1.1 mm italic nib and have no problems what so ever. No bleed through, no feathering and minimal ghosting and this is their cheapest notebook.Perhaps the criticism needs to be looked at again. e24fc04721
