Digital Economy
Digital Economy
The Internet Party will:
- Boost innovation by expanding government investment in R&D
- Double the number of tech workers in the digital economy through reforms to immigration, supporting non-university career paths, and other efforts to encourage more people into IT
- Introduce 'Ideas Grants' to encourage potential entrepreneurs to develop their ideas, build a prototype, and start seeking seed funding
Smart Infrastructure

The Internet Party will:
- Improve old internet infrastructure, especially in rural areas, to deliver ultra fast broadband to 99% of New Zealanders
- Build a new second fibre internet submarine cable connecting New Zealand to the rest of the world
- Fast-track the roll-out of 5G
- Use public-private partnerships to reduce infrastructure costs
Independence

The Internet Party will:
- Remove longer copyright terms, digital lock rules, and protections for offshore data processing from the TPPA for good
- Leave the Five Eyes intelligence sharing arrangement
- Forge a common alliance of states against the United States' Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act
Clean Environment

The Internet Party will:
- Invest in e-waste recycling initiatives to reduce the amount of e-waste going to landfill and introduce a compulsory product stewardship scheme for e-waste
- Immediately end the Department of Conservation's aerial 1080 poison programme
- Restore the right to protest offshore oil drilling in the Crown Minerals Act and increase transparency in permit and resource consent application processes
- Support climate action in line with keeping global warming beneath 1.5 degrees Celsius
Tino Rangatiratanga
Tino Rangatiratanga
The Internet Party will:
- Embed the Crown/Māori partnership within the governing process
- Uphold Māori tino rangatiratanga and mana motuhake
- Embed these processes and value in a new written constitution, built on the foundations of He Whakaputanga o Te Rangatiratanga o Nū Tīreni and Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Strengthen the resourcing and the powers of the Waitangi Tribunal to level up the playing field between coloniser and colonised in treaty settlements
- Ensure the traumatising process of uplifting Māori babies is a last resort, and restore the requirement to place Māori babies with whanau

Privacy and Freedom
The Internet Party will:
- Repeal the GCSB Bill and the TICS Bill to protect New Zealanders from surveillance
- Force the government to notify and apologise to all New Zealanders illegally spied on by the GCSB
- Enshrine internet freedoms in a new Bill of Digital Rights
- Strengthen due process and transparency in internet filtering, website take-downs, and the role played by internet intermediaries
- Regulate data collection and hold data collectors accountable for their collection
- Protect net neutrality in New Zealand

Just Foundations
The Internet Party will:
- Introduce a tax-free Universal Basic Income to ensure all citizens have a minimum income of $320 a week

E-Democracy
The Internet Party will:
- Introduce safe and secure online voting, starting with local body elections
- Improve government digital services, especially taxation, welfare, and immigration services
- Support binding citizens initiated referenda
- Make internet access a human right
- Expand funding for cyber-security to protect New Zealand from online threats

The Internet Party will:
- Update the Copyright Act for the digital age, including amending the 3 strikes law, adding a fair use exemption, and strengthening safe harbour provisions
- Require all taxpayer funded research be open access
- Fix the Official Information Act
Modern Education
Modern Education
The Internet Party will:
- Expand funding for technology in schools to create interactive learning environments
- Add internet privacy, safe internet use, and computer literacy to the curriculum, and make similar education available to adults
- Revisit charter schools and alternative learning arrangements, including digital classes
- Scrap the 'University Literacy' requirements for University, as Level 2 and 3 NCEA should be sufficient proof
