Fluorinated curcumin derivative (Shiga-Y6) modulates the level of thioredoxin-interacting protein (TXNIP) in a mouse model of diabetes. Biochem. Biophys. Res. Commun. 694, 149392. 10.1016/j.bbrc.2023.149392.
TXNIP was found to be elevated in the pancreas of a diabetes model, Akita mice.
Shiga-Y6, a fluorinated curcumin derivative, was injected into Akita mice for 28 days.
Shiga-Y6 reversed the increase of TXNIP levels in the pancreas of Akita mice.
Shiga-Y6 inhibited β-cell apoptosis and lowered the α-to β-cell ratio in Akita mice.
