This site is for Indiana Miami who want to contribute to the digitization of Miami archives and submit documents in support of our renewed case for federal recognition. Anyone who has ever been a member of the Miami Nation of Indiana can use this site to submit documents to be considered for the archive.
If you are not Miami and you want to support Miami federal recognition efforts, please consider contributing to the Miami Nation Honor Fund.
As soon as possible (think October 2025 or as soon as you are able), we need Indiana Miami to:
1) look through your family Miami papers
2) use the archive guidelines to determine which documents or photographs are useful for the archives
3) gather the names of the people in those photographs or other information about those documents
4) upload the files with what information you know about those documents
Please communicate with your families to figure out how to do this work. Reach out to elders to find out what they have and what they know. Reach out to young folks for help doing the work of photographing or scanning documents and uploading them to this site. This is a big project that will likely take more than an afternoon - so make a plan in your family about who is going to do this work and when.
*Special Note: all former council members and their families need to submit more documents than most people. Please speak with the current council members to make sure you know what all previous council members need to submit.
Update! We have streamlined the process.
