Minnesota Citizens’ Climate Lobby members in every Minnesota Congressional District have sent a message to communities and legislators: we cannot afford to delay the transition to clean energy. CCL members published letters to the editor in all 8 MN Congressional Districts regarding the need to transition to clean energy as soon as possible to reduce pollution. 46 letters were published in 26 print and digital publications. Letters appeared in the largest Minnesota newspapers–Minneapolis Star Tribune and the St. Paul Pioneer Press–as well as larger outstate papers (e.g., Rochester Post Bulletin, Duluth News Tribune) and many smaller local publications in more rural communities (e.g., Swift County Monitor, Isanti-Chisago County Star).
Messages included:
Clean, renewable energy can be as reliable, safer, more secure, and more cost effective than fossil fuel energy sources.
Permitting reform is needed–in Minnesota and the US as a whole–to speed up the approval of clean energy and energy infrastructure projects
Financial incentives are available to Minnesota residents for clean energy home improvements
A timely transition to clean energy is essential to reduce pollution as soon as possible.
The success of the project is a clear indication that Minnesotans throughout the state are eager for our elected officials to support a timely transition to clean energy.
