Muhammad Muzammil Azad is Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (CEME), NUST, Islamabad, Pakistan. Previously, he was Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Mechanical, Robotics, and Energy Engineering at Dongguk University, Seoul, South Korea. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Dongguk University in 2025. Prior to that, he completed his bachelor’s (2018) and master’s (2021) degrees in Mechanical Engineering from HITEC University, Taxila, Pakistan. His research spans the interdisciplinary domains of mechanical engineering, composite structures, and artificial intelligence (AI).
His current research is centered on machine learning and deep learning-based Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) of laminated composite structures. Additionally, he is interested in the Prognostics Health Management (PHM) of engineering systems/components and the design and fabrication of bio-based composites for structural, thermal, and fire-resistant applications.
Dr. Muzammil is a member of numerous engineering societies, including the Korean Society for Prognostics and Health Management (KSPHM), Korean Society of Composite Materials, (KSCM), Korean Society of Mechanical Engineering (KSME), and Korean Society of Noise and Vibration Engineering (KSNVE). He is also a reviewer for renowned journals such as Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence, Journal of Industrial Information Integration, Materials Characterization, ISA Transactions, and Advanced Engineering Informatics. He has published several papers in reputable international journals and conferences, showcasing innovative methodologies in these fields.
