Can't Get to Mass?

Spiritual Communion

If you cannot get to Mass an Act of Spiritual Communion is highly recommended by the Church. Spiritual Communion was described by St Thomas Aquinas as "an ardent desire to receive Jesus in the Holy Sacrament and a loving embrace as though we had already received Him". The following is a commonly used prayer, recommended by St Alphonsus Ligouri:

My Jesus, I believe that You are in the Blessed Sacrament.

I love You above all things, and I long for You in my soul.

Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally,

come at least spiritually into my heart.

As though You have already come,

I embrace You and unite myself entirely to You;

never permit me to be separated from You.

Receiving Communion

If you, a friend or a relative are sick or are going into hospital and cannot get to church for any period of time, please let Father know if you would like to receive communion. Father's contact details can be found by clicking here.
